Two Reviewers are assigned to each Thesis. At least one Reviewer must be a member of the Joint Teaching Committee of the M.Sc. in Computer Science. Reviewers shall review the content of the Thesis, possibly with meetings with the candidate and the Supervisor before the date of the discussion.

FINAL EXAM

To prepare the final exam, the Candidate is requested to develop a project, and a written Thesis describing the project. The project must have innovative content. These activities are carried out under the supervision of a member of the Joint Teaching Committee of the M.Sc. in Computer Science, which is appointed as the Supervisor. These activities can also be performed in foreign Universities, as well as in Research Institutes or Companies, both in Italy or abroad. In such cases, the Supervisor will appoint an external co-Supervisor, from the Institution that hosted the Student. The judgement of the co-Supervisor about the work will be considered by the Thesis Committee.

The activities related to the final exam (Thesis preparation and discussion) are divided as follows:

  • FINAL EXAM: THESIS DEFENCE (PROVA FINALE), 3 CFUs, for writing and discussing the Thesis. The Thesis report can be written both in Italian and in English.

GRADUATION SCORE

The score is on a scale of 110.

The score is decided by the Thesis Committee, and it is composed of two parts:

  1. the weighted average of all the exams, excluding the final exam (project, the written Thesis, and its defense), computed considering the score of each exam and its CFUs, rounded to the closest integer.
  2. the score attributed to the final exam itself. Such score is a value from 0 to 10, decided by the Thesis Committee on the basis of the project, the written Thesis, and its defense, and considering the recommendations from the Supervisor, the Reviewers, and possible Co-Supervisors.

The resulting value is rounded to the closest integer.

The Thesis Committee may graduate the student summa cum laude if the Thesis Committee judges that the Thesis is outstanding, the overall score of the candidate is above 110, and at least 6 out of 7 Committee Members are in favor.
